About Melanie Fernandez, MS, BCBA
Melanie is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She became an ABA therapist in 2009, a BCaBA in 2012 and received her Masters in ABA from Kaplan University in 2013. Since then, Melanie has had extensive experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities (autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, fragile X, psychosis—as well as typically developing children displaying maladaptive behaviors), communication (non verbal, signs, PECS, to fully verbal) and functioning levels (severely low functioning to high functioning) of all ages (1-18 years) in a variety of settings (home, community, schools/daycares, and clinic based programs). Melanie has taught essential life skills including communication, self help, social skills, as well as reduction of maladaptive behaviors. Melanie also has experience with the implementation of assessment tools such as VBMAPP, ABLLS and AFLS to establish programming goals. Melanie’s main goal is to help all our kiddos reach their fullest potentials while training our caregivers to cheer them on along the way. Melanie has also served as a mentor for many RBTS and BCaBAs on their own journeys towards becoming a BCBA. When she's not changing the world with ABA, she enjoys music (it's the key to her heart) or cheering on her daughter who is a dancing diva.
