Dr. Montalvo graduated from Montclair State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She then earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Montalvo has been lauded for her sense of empathy and compassion for her clients, investment in the client's success in treatment, and flexible approach in applying therapeutic techniques to meet the diverse needs of each individual. Dr. Montalvo's therapeutic style is rooted in a cognitive-behavioral framework, and integrates the use of mindfulness, insight, acceptance, and commitment to provoke behavioral change and improve psychiatric symptoms. Dr. Montalvo's future goal is to administer psychedelic assisted therapy and promote the destigmatization of substance use disorders.

I am a guide that helps the client take a deeper look at themselves and a source of support that aids clients in processing difficulties.
What drives your passion for seeing clients?
My passion for seeing clients is driven by my sense of compassion and curiosity.
How do you believe clients "get better"?
Client's get better when they are better able to not only identify their emotions but learn how to best cope, and make decisions based on the present moment.
