Ana Gamboa

Registered Behavior Technician & Lead Clinical Assistant

Ana is a dedicated Registered Behavior Technician at MIS Therapy. She obtained her Bachelors in Psychology at Florida International University, focusing on Applied Behavior Analysis. She has always been driven by the desire to help others and impact lives in a positive way; as she learned more about the field of ABA and Mental Health during the past years, she decided taking a hands-on approach to help clients would be the best next step. Ana's approach to therapy sessions is to adapt to the client's needs and preferences, while also encouraging them to take advantage of each learning opportunity. She strives to make sessions as fun and enjoyable for clients as possible as they learn.

What is important to you, for your client to feel, when working with you?

It is important that my clients feel safe and comfortable when working with me. I believe it is important for the client to feel like they are having a good time while also learning, and feel encouraged and supported.

Who do you believe you are for a client as they manage their problems?

I believe I play a supportive role in my client's lives, not only as the person providing them with the strategies and behaviors to overcome their struggles, but also as someone who encourages them and supports them even as they might encounter some bumps in the way.

What drives your passion for seeing clients?

Seeing clients develop the necessary skills to adapt to new environments, people, and issues they might encounter drives my passion for seeing them. Helping them achieve goals no matter how small or big they might be definitely encourages me to continue doing my job.

How do you believe clients "get better"?

I believe clients improve by receiving consistent support, independently of how linear or not their progress might be. Encouraging them to continue putting their effort and recognizing every little achievement, and demonstrating our continuous support even during the times progress seems slower or stagnant is key.
