Dr. Lucia Ricardo
Psychiatrist, MD
Dr. Ricardo is a proficient bilingual physician, who has undergone training in both adult and pediatric psychiatry. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at the prestigious Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Elmhurst, NY, where she acquired the skills to manage diverse and high-risk populations. Later, she returned to her hometown and pursued her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine.
While Dr. Ricardo has experience working with patients from different backgrounds, her primary interests lie in perinatal and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Ricardo takes a non-judgmental approach when working with clients, meeting them where they are on their personal journey. She believes in providing all evidence-based options and educating clients about them to make informed decisions. She encourages clients to play an active role in their treatment, ask questions, and provides them with the tools they need to achieve success.

What is important to you, for your client to feel, when working with you?
This is a safe space. I am simply here to provide support, education, and guidance.
Who do you believe you are for a client as they manage their problems?
I like to think of myself as the co-pilot when helping clients manage their problems. I help them navigate through stormy conditions but they ultimately decide what direction they'd like to go in.
What drives your passion for seeing clients?
I am fascinated by the mind and have always been the helper in my family. I enjoy hearing everyone's story and their perspective on life. However, the most rewarding part is helping clients overcome their struggles and accomplish their goals.
How do you believe clients "get better"?
I believe progress happens when people realize their power and are motivated to change.
